VALLE DEL BELICE OLIVE OIL

The oil of the Belice Valley falls into the category of DOP products.

It is produced in the area of Valle del Belice: this category includes the towns of Castelvetrano and Campobello di Mazara, Partanna, Salaparuta, Santa Ninfa and Poggioreale.

 

The cultivar that is primarily used in the production of "Valle del Belice" is the Nocellara del Belice, at least 70%, the remainder 30% is used other cultivars, in particular: the Giarraffa, Biancolilla, Cerasuola, Buscionetto, the Santagatese and Ogiarola Messina.

 

The collection of Nocellara occurs exclusively by hand, with the method of cropping. The harvest begins in late September and continues until October, November.

 

Its features are: color: green with golden yellow and has a scent of freshly crushed olive with hints of grass. Its flavor is fruity, slightly bitter and spicy with a hint of almond and artichoke.
