D.O.P. PRODUCTS
The Protected Designation of Origin, indicates an agricultural product or a foodstuff, whose quality and characteristics are due to the geographical environment, including natural and human factors; the production, processing and preparation have to take place in the defined geographical area. The entire production cycle must be carried out within the same area and therefore can not be reproduced outside of this. On this page all the DOP that you will discover in our itineraries.
RIBERA ORANGES
Oranges Ribera, belong to the group of oranges umbilicated, for the characteristic navel in the lower extremity. It is a blonde
orange-fleshed, seeded and skinned easily detachable from the pulp with a high content of vitamins, minerals and sugars.
VAL DI MAZARA OLIVE OIL
The designation of origin "Val di Mazara" is reserved for the olive oil corresponding to the conditions and
requirements mentioned below.
VALLE DEL BELICE OLIVE OIL
The oil of the Belice Valley falls into the category of DOP products.
It is produced in the area of Valle del Belice: this category includes the towns of Castelvetrano and Campobello di Mazara, Partanna, Salaparuta, Santa Ninfa and Poggioreale.
VALLI TRAPANESI OLIVE OIL
The extra virgin olive oil DOP Valli Trapanesi is a high quality oil produced in the region of Sicily, specifically
in the areas of Trapani, Alcamo, Buseto Palizzolo, Calatafimi, Castellammare del Golfo, Custonaci, Erice, Gibellina, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Paceco, Petrosino, Poggioreale, Salemi, San Vito Lo
Capo, Valderice and Vita.
NOCELLARA DEL BELICE OLIVE
Nocellara del Belice Olive is a DOP product. It is big and tasty olive, green or black in variety, from which you
also get an oil particularly intense and full-bodied, Valle del Belice and the Valleys Trapanesi (DOP).
SICILIAN PECORINO
The Sicilian pecorino cheese (DOP) is a semi-hard cheese, white in color and strong flavor. Has a cylindrical shape,
with flat faces which bear the characteristic fingerprint of rush baskets used for the pressing of the paste, the so-called "fascedde".
TABLE GRAPES OF CANICATTÌ
The table grapes Canicattì, IGP since 1997, is part of the great family of grapes "Italy" and was created by crossing two varieties (Bicane and Muscat of Hamburg).
VASTEDDA DELLA VALLE DEL BELICE
The Vastedda of Belice’s Valley is a spun paste cheese, which should be eaten fresh, made with sheep's milk. It has
the typical shape of a focaccia compact paste with some white striping due to the spinning craft.
