SCIACCA DOC
The Sciacca D.O.C. is produced throughout the homonymous town and Caltabellotta, both in the area of Agrigento, obtained through a clever combination of grapes from native vines, such as Inzolia, Cataratto, Grecanico, Nero d'Avola and those of international varieties such as Chardonnay , Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese.
The type of White is obtained from grapes of Inzolia, Grecanico, Chardonnay, Cataratto, in a proportion of not less than 70%. It is expected the eventual addition of other non-aromatic white grape varieties in the area, and has a straw yellow color with greenish hues; delicate, fine and fragrant smell; dry, lively and harmonious taste.
The types of Red, Red Reserve and Rosé are obtained from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Nero d'Avola, in a percentage not less than 70%. It is expected the eventual addition of other non-aromatic red grapes of the area. The first type has a ruby red color, dry smell; slightly tannic flavor. The second has a ruby red color with garnet, characteristic odor; taste is full-bodied and velvety. Refinement mandatory two years, including at least one in wooden barrels. Finally, the third type, has more or less intense pink color; delicate, fine and fragrant smell; the taste is harmonious and lively.
The Sciacca D.O.C., followed by a reference Inzolia, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Nero d'Avola, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is reserved for wines made with at least 85% from grapes of the same variety.
