SALAPARUTA DOC

The DOC wines Salaparuta was recognized in 2006, the production is allowed only from grapes coming from vineyards located in the town of Salaparuta, in the area of Trapani. The town is located in the hills overlooking the Valle del Belice, to the right of the river and in the center of the archaeological site of Segesta and Selinunte.

 

At Salaparuta the 55% of agricultural land is occupied by vineyards; there are, in fact, 1500 hectares of vineyards. There are 450 producers listed in the Local wine register. Could, potentially, be bottled 15 million bottles of wine. The Salaparuta wine is produced in the varieties Red and Red Reserve, White, Inzolia, Grillo, Chardonnay, Cataratto, Nero d'Avola Nero d'Avola Reserve, Merlot and Merlot Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah.

 

The White Salaparuta DOC is produced with grapes Cataratto, minimum 60%, to which may be added those of other white grape varieties, non-aromatic, suitable for cultivation in the area, with the exception of Trebbiano Toscano, and has a straw yellow color more or less intense the scent is delicate, elegant; delicate and typical flavor.

 

The Red Salaparuta DOC is produced with grapes of Nero d'Avola, 65% minimum, and possibly those of other black varieties, non-aromatic, suitable for cultivation in the area, and has an intense color, pleasant smell, fine, harmonious and structured taste. It is also produced in the variety Reserve, with deep ruby red color, intense and harmonious aroma, the taste is rich, full-bodied and spicy. Aging mandatory 2 years. The Novello is produced with at least 50% grapes of Nero d'Avola, and at least 20% Merlot to which may be added those of other red grapes of the area.

 

To produce a mono-variety of Salaparuta White Doc are used instead of grape vines Inzolia, Grillo, Cataratto, Chardonnay, each with a minimum percentage of 85%.
