CONTESSA ENTELLINA DOC
The Contessa Entellina D.O.C. is produced in the territory comprehending the town of Contessa Entellina, in the area of Palermo, from which it gets its common name, which is also the exclusive area of production of this D.o.c.
This D.o.c. is produced in White, Red, Rosé, Ansonica, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon, Red Reserve and Late Harvest.
The White Contessa Entellina is obtained from Ansonica (or Inzolia, minimum 50%), Cataratto glossy white, golden Grecanico, Chardonnay, Muller Thurgau, Sauvignon, Pinot Blanc, Grillo, plus other local grapes (maximum 15%). Visual examination shows a straw yellow color more or less intense, sometimes with greenish reflections, a delicate fragrance, fruity, dry, lively, fresh. Alcohol content at least 11 °.
The Red one is obtained by using the vines: Calabrese and/or Syrah (50% minimum), plus any additions of other local red grapes, not aromatic. It has a ruby red color, sometimes with garnet reflections if aged, the smell is intense, vinous, dry, velvety. It has a minimum alcohol content of 11.5 percent.
The Rosé is obtained by using the same type of grapes vinified in red but pink. Visual examination shows pinkish in colour, sometimes with orange highlights, fine fragrance, intense, dry, fragrant, velvety. Alcohol content at least 11 °.
