PLANETA
Planeta is a Sicilian wine producer born in 1995 on a long agricultural tradition handed down since 1500 through 17 generations in the area between Sambuca di Sicilia and Menfi.
The estates in which wine is procuded are: Ulmo, at Sambuca di Sicilia, Dispensa, at Menfi; Dorilli, at Victoria; Buonivini at Noto, Feudo di Mezzo at Etna in Castiglione di Sicilia, and finally, La Baronia, at Capo Milazzo. These are the Planeta locations, comprising a total surface area of 363 hectares of vineyards.
Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planeta gave life to this project, but behind them they have the whole family, rooted in the reality of Sicilian agriculture for generations, beginning with Diego Planeta, considered the leading figure in the rebirth of the Sicilian wine industry in the last forty years.
ULMO
Ulmo, in Sambuca di Sicilia, is the Planeta’s main hospitality centre , dedicated to the knowledge and
enhancement of Sicilian oenological richness. Here in 1995 the first winery was built, in a charming landscape, between the Arancio Lake and the ancient farmhouse dated 1500 owned by the Planeta family.
DISPENSA
The Dispensa winery is the historic centre of the Planeta family, a beautiful farmhouse in the countryside of Menfi where the family still lives today. Dispensa is above all the production centre of the firm, somewhere where age and modernity merge in complete accord with the firm’s vision which combines Sicilian winemaking tradition with experimenting with grape varieties and technological innovation.
SCIARANUOVA
On the north slope of Etna Feudo di Mezzo winery was built on an historical lava flow of 1566, only using the lava stone, typical of the area. Sciaranuova estate, few km away, is an old restored wine press, presently a wine shop and tasting room, beside the traditional Ribatteria with wood stove and a kitchen for convivial events.
BUONIVINI
Buonivini estate in the Val di Noto is the synthesis of Planeta’s commitment to eco-sustainability and respect of the territory. The winery is completely underground, thus invisible, and the old wine press was restored following the original architecture. It is possible to stay in the Case Sparse, small country houses surrounded by the vineyards.
DORILLI
Dorilli estate, in Vittoria, in the heart of the area of production of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, lies within the ancient Feudo di Torrenuova. The farmhouse, restored following the architecture of ‘900 century, has some rooms devoted to hospitality.
