MOLINI DEL PONTE

The company was born in 1967 from an idea of the brothers Francesco Paolo, Filippo and Nicolò Drago and is located in Castelvetrano. The project was, unfortunately, interrupted by the earthquake of 1968, but resumed with the same enthusiasm, and culminated in 1970 with the inauguration of a modern mill for the production of semolina and flour.

 

Subsequently, the modern milling process was joined by the so-called “grinding stone” through the purchase of two traditional natural stone mills dating back to the late 1800s and later restored by the brothers to produce the wholemeal flour of “Tumminia”, for the preparation of the black bread of Castelvetrano, and other flours derived from Sicilian grains. A great milling passion that bring the family to engage human and financial resources, a passion that flows into 2004 with the complete modernization of the milling plant that replaces the original mills, in order to get more and more high-quality flour.

 

Inside the plant, visitors can see the old process of grinding stone by making a guided tour with one of the owners of the mill. Finally, visitors, through a tasting, will try the products made from flours of the mill combined with other local specialities.
